Appalachian is 8-2 against Pennington since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Eagles will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Appalachian will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Pennington's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Appalachian hadn't allowed a single run the last six times they've hit the field. The Eagles never let Victory Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleb Conn made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Camdyn Moore was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Levi Parrish was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
Appalachian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victory Christian only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Pennington came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Pisgah with a sharp 14-3 win on Thursday. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th.
Like Appalachian, Pennington also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor Timmerman. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Timmerman is becoming a predictor of Pennington's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 5-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Timmerman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 5-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grayson Chambers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Eli Butler, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Appalachian pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Pennington, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Appalachian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Pennington struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
