Baseball Recap: Loyd Star Has No Trouble Against St. Andrew's Episcopal

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mize, Loyd Star was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints 13-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hornets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jordyn Kees was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Loyd Star: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Cunningham, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Loyd Star was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Loyd Star now has a winning record of 7-6. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Coincidentally, Loyd Star and St. Andrew's Episcopal will both be playing Bogue Chitto the next time they take the field. St. Andrew's Episcopal will host Bogue Chitto at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Loyd Star will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
