Baseball Recap: North Providence Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

While North Providence didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Toll Gate Titans on Monday as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Mike Ryan, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Toll Gate off the board.

On the hitting side, Ronnie Paux was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Allard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

North Providence's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Toll Gate, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, North Providence will challenge Burrillville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Toll Gate, they will square off against Ponaganset at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
