Football Recap: Cohasset Comes Up Short

After a string of four wins, Cohasset's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to the Randolph Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Skippers of the 29-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cohasset lost, don't look at Gus Greene. Despite the final result, he rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Greene's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 123 rushing yards. Nolan Flaherty was another key player, picking up 34 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cohasset didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Greene and Jake Dolan.

Cohasset's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Randolph, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cohasset will square off against Carver at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Randolph, they will challenge Tech Boston Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Blue Devils 11, Tech Boston Academy 9.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
