Football Recap: Reagan Vanbuskirk and Ryan Youngblood Pace Pompano Beach Defense

Pompano Beach and Dr. Joaquin Garcia squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pompano Beach had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 24-6 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 31st).

Pompano Beach didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Reagan VanBuskirk and Ryan Youngblood. Youngblood has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times she's played.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia found their leader in freshman Maliyah Newton, who threw for 149 yards and four TDs.

Pompano Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the win keeps they at an undefeated 13-0.
