Football Game Preview: Ridge Red Devil vs. Colonia Patriots

The Ridge Red Devil will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Colonia Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Ridge is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Westfield just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. Having soared to a lofty 57 points in the game before, the Red Devil couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Colonia lost 42-22 to Old Bridge on Friday.

Ridge will need to focus on slowing down Rj Wortman, one of several Colonia players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 161 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wortman's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 receiving yards. Dylan Chiera was another key player, having thrown for 321 yards and two touchdowns.

Ridge's record is now 5-3. As for Colonia, their record now sits at 6-3.

Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Ridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Colonia, though, as they've been averaging only 91 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
