Soccer Game Preview: New Waverly vs. Freeman

The New Waverly Bulldogs will square off against the Freeman Golden Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

New Waverly is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Sealy on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 5-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as New Waverly were already down 4-0.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Freeman duked it out with Royal on Friday. The Golden Eagles lost 7-1 to the Falcons. While losing is never fun, Freeman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 446th, while Royal are ranked 52nd).

Freeman's goal came courtesy of Joel Guiterrez, who's now up to eight this season.

New Waverly has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Freeman, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
