Basketball Recap: Huntingtown's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Huntingtown can now relate to. They fell just short of the Thomas Stone Cougars by a score of 41-38 on Monday. The Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 48-37.

Thomas Stone found their leader in sophomore Malaiyah Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. What's more, Johnson posted three blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Heaven Coles, who went 6-for-10 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Huntingtown's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Thomas Stone, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-17.

Huntingtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thomas Stone, they will head out on the road to face off against Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Thomas Stone surely won't give up without a fight.
