North Sanpete is 8-2 against Juab since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The North Sanpete Hawks will head out to challenge the Juab Wasps at 3:30 p.m. North Sanpete is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
North Sanpete barely beat Carbon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. North Sanpete never let Carbon get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 17, 2023, but that streak is no more.
The result came thanks to Kaecee Johnson's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, North Sanpete let Rylee Stewart and Alivia Madsen run wild. Stewart went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Madsen scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Madsen a new career-high in doubles (two). Shea Rawlinson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: North Sanpete kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Juab was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Manti.
Madi Blankenagel was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
The victory got North Sanpete back to even at 4-4. As for Juab, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. North Sanpete hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Juab struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went North Sanpete's way against Juab in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as North Sanpete made off with a 13-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Sanpete since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
