The Monroe Cheesemakers will head out on the road to take on the Big Foot Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

While Monroe didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Whitewater 16-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cheesemakers in their matchups with the Whippets: they've now won four in a row.

Logan Meier and Cam Newcomer did most of the damage at the plate: Meier went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Newcomer went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Meier is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Marcus Ott was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Big Foot's offense. They lost 10-0 to Turner on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Chiefs in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost nine in a row.

Big Foot's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Monroe might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Big Foot when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cheesemakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
