Triad moved up to 309 from 352 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Ohio Heritage. A 34-7 win over Greeneview helped the Cardinals improve their standing.
Mechanicsburg was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Indians defeated Cedarville 20-17.
Mechanicsburg's dynamic duo of Colin VERNON and Brandon PURK proved tough for the Indians to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. VERNON threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns and PURK had 150 yards receiving. Austin MILLEDGE helped Mechanicsburg's passing attack out by catching three balls for 32 yards.
Chance Frye was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 46 yards as the Rams beat Cedarville. Kyle Gilliam also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
Mechanicsburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. VERNON has thrown for 997 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while PURK has 37 catches for 715 yards. Aeryton ERWIN leads the league in rushing with 601 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West Liberty-Salem takes on Greeneview. The Tigers are in first place, while Neal Kasner's team is in fourth place.
West Liberty-Salem extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Northeastern, 74-16. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
