Baseball Recap: Marinette Beats Clintonville for Their Third Straight Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Marinette nor Clintonville made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Marines won by a run and slipped past the Truckers 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Marines sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Nik Williams looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chase MacGregor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cooper Smith was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Marinette's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Clintonville, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marinette is set to challenge their familiar foe Fox Valley Lutheran at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Clintonville will take on rival Waupaca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
