Basketball Recap: Schoolhouse Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Somerset Academy South Homestead last Thursday, Schoolhouse Prep came back down to earth. The Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack were outmatched by the Palmetto Panthers and fell 86-41. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Hector Samaniego and Elias Jupiter certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Samaniego dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, while Jupiter posted 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marco Castro, who put up six points.

It was another big night for Santiago Henriquez, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 32 points along with five assists and five steals for Palmetto. The contest was Henriquez's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Samfree Sarante was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Schoolhouse Prep's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-3. As for Palmetto, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Schoolhouse Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-55 defeat against Hallandale on the 9th. As for Palmetto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-39 victory against Braddock on the 10th.
