Basketball Recap: Leland Picks Up Ninth Straight Win on the Road

Leland had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They managed a 50-45 victory over the Gilroy Mustangs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Mattia Nucci had a dynamite game for Leland, going 7 for 16 on his way to 22 points and five steals. Gurkaran Khehra was another key player, putting up eight points.

Leland's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Gilroy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Leland will head out to challenge Evergreen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evergreen Valley will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Leland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gilroy, they will welcome Live Oak at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th.
