Softball Recap: Oviedo Drops Season-High Score on Trinity Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oviedo). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trinity Prep Saints a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jodi Skinner looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maile Dunn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ahmaya Wheeler, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Oviedo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oviedo's victory bumped their record up to 3-19. As for Trinity Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oviedo will host Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trinity Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winter Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
