Baseball Recap: California Takes Down San Leandro in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and California had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the San Leandro Pirates by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Grizzlies as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brayden Gijbels tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of California's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, California's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Jess, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

California's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for San Leandro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9.

As of now, neither California nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
