Softball Recap: Brookfield East Comes Up Short

Brookfield East fell victim to Hamilton and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 24th.

Layla Diehl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Brookfield East has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Hamilton, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-1.

Coming up, Brookfield East will face off against New Berlin Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton, they will be playing at home against Germantown at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
