After having lost a blowout in their previous game, South Pasadena was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Monrovia Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Wildcats last Tuesday, they had to take a 12-4 loss.

Lucia Atencio was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Atencio was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Ventura, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Adelaide Bertolina also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

South Pasadena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monrovia only posted a batting average of .130.

South Pasadena's record now sits at 8-3. As for Monrovia, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1.

Looking ahead, South Pasadena will take on Village Christian in a tournament on Saturday. As for Monrovia, they will take on La Canada at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
