Softball Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. Skyline Hawks

Meridian extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 12-4 to the Skyline Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

Elena Clark-Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Claire Hartenstein was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.

As for Skyline, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
