Basketball Game Preview: Blackford Bruins vs. Frankton Eagles

Blackford hasn't had much luck against Frankton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blackford Bruins will take on the Frankton Eagles at 8:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Blackford will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Winchester Community, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Blackford had just enough and edged Winchester Community out 47-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Meanwhile, Frankton posted their biggest win since December 3, 2024 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Madison-Grant 63-36. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Eagles were the (much) better team in the second half.

Frankton's win came from a few key players Blackford will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady Carmack, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (six). Trey Bennett was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Frankton's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Blackford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Blackford lost to Frankton on the road by a decisive 57-39 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Blackford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
