Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 57-47 to the University School Buccaneers. The match marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Caleb Pilgrim, who posted 13 points and eight steals. Pilgrim is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 6-3 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Logan Smith was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for University School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-58 loss against Geraldine on the 28th. As for University School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-58 victory against Floyd Central on the 28th.
