Basketball Recap: Manteca Takes a Loss

Manteca easily dispatched Chavez last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Manteca Buffaloes fell just short of the Tracy Bulldogs by a score of 50-47 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buffaloes have suffered against the Bulldogs since December 21, 2017.

It was another big night for Maximillian Russell, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards for Tracy. Russell's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Breckenridge, who posted nine points and five steals.

Manteca now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Tracy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Manteca wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 69-54 defeat against Clovis West on the 26th. As for Tracy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Tracy likes a good challenge.
