Mar Vista's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Castle Park, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mariners have posted against the Trojans since April 24, 2018.

The result came thanks to Peter Thomas's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. He has become a key player for Mar Vista: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Mar Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Snow, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Snow has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Southwest SD was able to grind out a solid win over Chula Vista on Thursday, taking the game 5-2.
Anthony Bejarano tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aquiles Lugo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Southwest SD now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Mar Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mar Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southwest SD struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mar Vista took their win against Southwest SD in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 22-5 score. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
