Basketball Recap: Service's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Eagle River last Monday, Service came back down to earth. The Service Cougars took a hard 66-48 fall against the Dimond Lynx on Wednesday. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lynx earlier this season, when they won 66-51.

Despite the loss, Service saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aryanna Watson posted 34 points. The game was Watson's 15th in a row with at least 16 points.

Service moved to 14-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Dimond, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Service will host South Anchorage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dimond, they will head out on the road to face off against Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bartlett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Dimond likes a good challenge.
