Central Christian snaps nine-game streak of losses on the road

Recap: Central Christian Cougars vs. Macksville Mustangs

The Central Christian Cougars had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Macksville by a score of 72-64 on Tuesday. Central Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Diego Esparza, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Esparza scored a full 28.1% of Macksville's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ty Clawson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Central Christian's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for Macksville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Central Christian will head out on the road to face off against Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Caldwell is ranked 218th, while Central Christian is ranked 243rd). Macksville will be home for the holidays to greet Stafford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
