Basketball Recap: Winter Park Piles Up the Points Against Innovation

Winter Park waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 67-32 win over the Innovation Bulls. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Bulls are ranked 652nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Innovation lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kaleb Bielski, who posted seven points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Naranjo, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Winter Park pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Innovation, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winter Park will venture away from home to square off against Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Horizon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Innovation, they will face off against Colonial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colonial has three straight wins, Innovation has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
