Basketball Game Preview: Arvin Bears vs. Caruthers Blue Raiders

Having just played yesterday, the Arvin Bears will jump right back in to play the Caruthers Blue Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Caruthers is hoping to do what Farmersville couldn't on Friday: put an end to Arvin's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Everything went Arvin's way against Farmersville as Arvin made off with a 53-32 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bears just coasted through the last quarter.

Arvin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Xzavier Pierson-Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, and Miguel Damian, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Damian a new career-high. Aziz Ochoa was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Caruthers entered their tilt with Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bears, posting a 74-41 win.

Arvin pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Caruthers, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
