Basketball Game Preview: McKinley Trojans vs. Memorial Red Devils

The McKinley Trojans will challenge the Memorial Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

McKinley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 43-23 margin over Academy for Urban Scholars.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Memorial beat McDonald 59-54 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Memorial's win came from a few key players McKinley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jared Colon, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Teyon Harris Jr., who went 6-for-8 to rack up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Memorial pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points over those games. As for McKinley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-18.

McKinley was dealt a bruising 89-38 loss at the hands of Memorial when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Colon, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and five assists.
