Baseball Recap: Manchester Extends Winning Streak to Two

Manchester won the last time they faced L.C. Bird and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lancers never let the Skyhawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Judah Parks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manchester is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Parks was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Noah Lourinia was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Asher Blalock, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Manchester and bumps their season record up to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for L.C. Bird, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester will face off against Powhatan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for L.C. Bird, they will challenge Prince George at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Skyhawks are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
