Basketball Recap: Hobart Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Hobart Brickies had to suffer through a 78-49 loss at the hands of the Harrison Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Brickies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Raiders are ranked 45th).

Hobart's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Felix Lopez, who posted 18 points. Lopez is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Stephen Miller, who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points.

Harrison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi King, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Smith, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Hobart's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Harrison, their record now sits at 6-2.

Hobart wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-44 defeat against Connersville on the 27th. As for Harrison, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-64 loss against South Bend Washington on the 27th.
