Softball Game Preview: Peru Tigers vs. Maconaquah Braves

Peru is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Maconaquah a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Peru Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Maconaquah Braves at 5:30 p.m. Peru has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rochester hit Peru with a seven-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zebras.

Bailee - 'Boo' Kintner was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lilly Steele was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Molly Mann, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Maconaquah suffered their closest defeat since April 17th on Monday. They fell just short of Southwood by a score of 4-2.

Blayklee Buman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Maconaquah saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ireland Kile, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Maconaquah's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Peru suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Maconaquah when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
