Bothell has gone 8-2 against Skyline recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out to square off against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Bothell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Bothell is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since May 3, 2025 on Monday. They came up short against North Creek, falling 13-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.
Bothell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Kolbi Schmer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Skyline put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over Hazen. That 17-run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.
Riley McTague (2028) and Emma Kell (2027) were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McTague (2028) pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kell (2027) struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, McTague (2028) went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Kell (2027) went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Skyline's record now sits at 9-0. As for Bothell, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Bothell has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bothell might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Skyline in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
