Softball Game Preview: O'Fallon Panthers vs. Collinsville Kahoks

The O'Fallon Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Collinsville Kahoks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Fallon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

O'Fallon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over Marquette Catholic on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Explorers: they've now won four in a row.

Kai'A Moe looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, O'Fallon let Bella Schmitt and Ella Klino run wild. Schmitt scored two runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5, while Klino went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Schmitt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Peek, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.

O'Fallon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Collinsville came up short against Gillespie on Monday, falling 15-2. The Kahoks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Collinsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keagan Edwards, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Edwards hit this season.

Collinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for O'Fallon, their record now sits at 5-8.

O'Fallon beat Collinsville 6-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Kahoks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
