Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Monterey Trail Mustangs

Pleasant Grove is 2-8 against Monterey Trail since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will be playing at home against the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Pleasant Grove is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since December 26, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 win over Laguna Creek.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey Trail). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Cosumnes Oaks 89-45. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Pleasant Grove's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18. As for Monterey Trail, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5.

Pleasant Grove was dealt a bruising 77-48 loss at the hands of Monterey Trail in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Monterey Trail's Devaughn Dorrough, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.
