Recap: Colleton County Cougars vs. May River Sharks
The Colleton County Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of May River. While losing is never fun, Colleton County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while May River is ranked 93rd).
May River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooke Dalton led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashleigh Williams, who scored seven points.
Colleton County bumped their record down to 4-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for May River, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton County will take on Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. As for May River, they will be playing at home against Hilton Head Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hilton Head Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
