Soccer Game Preview: West vs. Classical

West hasn't had much luck against Classical recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pioneers will challenge the Saints at 6:30 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for West's offense. They lost 8-0 to Bishop Carroll on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Bishop Carroll are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Classical also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Emporia on Tuesday, falling 5-0. The loss continues a trend for Classical in their meetings with Emporia: they've now lost six in a row.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-2. As for Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

West suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Classical in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
