Granite Hills hasn't had much luck against Corcoran recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Grizzlies will challenge the Panthers at 6:30 p.m.
Granite Hills made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Woodlake, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Grizzlies have suffered against the Tigers since May 31, 2021.
Adrian Bedolla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Joseph Magana made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonel Leon, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Corcoran entered their tilt with Wonderful College Prep Academy on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolves a 7-0 shutout. Give the Panthers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
The team relied heavily on Ethan Chavez, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Blake Cabral was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Corcoran's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Granite Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Granite Hills might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Corcoran in their previous matchup on April 8th. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
