Softball Recap: Everglades Gets the Win

While Everglades's victory against Northeast wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Everglades Gators skirted past the Northeast Hurricanes 24-22. 24 seems to be a good number for the Gators as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Daysia Conklin was a standout: she got on base in five of her eight plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Anaya Mendez was another key player, getting on base in three of her eight plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Everglades has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.8 runs over those games. Northeast is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Everglades will host McArthur at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Everglades has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to take on Plantation at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
