Basketball Recap: Harlem Comes Up Short

Harlem easily dispatched Academy of Richmond County on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Baldwin Braves by a score of 61-58 on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Harlem still got an impressive performance from Ty Shine, who posted 17 points and three steals. The game was Shine's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Futrell, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Karez Demory continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Baldwin, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards. Demory has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jared Mundie, who had 12 points and five rebounds.

Harlem now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Baldwin, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Harlem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-55 loss against Wilson Academy on the 6th. As for Baldwin, they have also already played their next contest, a 75-54 victory against Putnam County on the 6th.
