Baseball Recap: Fort Vancouver Takes a Loss

Fort Vancouver extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They came up short against the King's Way Christian Knights, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 on Tuesday.

Sebastian De La Cruz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Fort Vancouver is 3-1 when De La Cruz posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

As for King's Way Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.

On King's Way Christian's side, Adam Klotzer looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Klotzer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jace Barnes was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Reece Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Fort Vancouver will be playing in front of their home fans against La Center at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Trappers surely won't give up without a fight. As for King's Way Christian, they have already played their next game, a 1-0 defeat against Seton Catholic on the 5th.
