Volleyball Game Preview: Donovan Wildcats vs. St. Anne Cardinals

The Donovan Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Anne Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Anne took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Donovan, who comes in off a win.

Donovan took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Southland College Prep.

Donovan easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-20.

Donovan had a senior duo take command as Lily Anderson had 14 assists and four digs and Madelyn Loy had six aces.

Donovan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. They are 7-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, St. Anne came up short against Watseka on Monday and fell 2-0. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17.

St. Anne's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Donovan, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Donovan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.4 aces per game. However, it's not like St. Anne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Donovan was able to grind out a solid win over St. Anne in their previous meeting back in September, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
