Basketball Game Preview: Greenville Comets vs. North Mac Panthers

The Greenville Comets will face off against the North Mac Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Greenville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-42 to Carlyle. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Indians/Lady Indians are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, North Mac was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 46-36 to West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs].

Greenville dropped their record down to 14-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for North Mac, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Greenville strolled past North Mac in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 57-43. Will Greenville repeat their success, or does North Mac have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
