Softball Game Preview: Hampton Bays Baymen vs. Miller Place Panthers

Hampton Bays hasn't had much luck against Miller Place recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Baymen will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.

Hampton Bays is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Mount Sinai.

Louise Brumagin stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Egan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Miller Place strolled into their game last Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mount Sinai a 14-0 shutout. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Hampton Bays' defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Miller Place, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Hampton Bays suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Miller Place in their previous matchup on April 14th. Can the Baymen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
