Preview: WestSide Renegades vs. Independence Patriots

WestSide is 10-0 against Independence since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The WestSide Renegades will be playing in front of their home fans against the Independence Patriots at 2:00 p.m. WestSide has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Even though WestSide has not done well against Midland Trail recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. WestSide walked away with a 50-38 win over Midland Trail.

Meanwhile, Independence came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 59-31 win over Meadow Bridge. Independence has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Independence found their leader in underclassman Harmony Mills, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mills has scored at least a third of Independence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Wooten, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

The win got WestSide back to even at 5-5. As for Independence, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Everything went WestSide's way against Independence in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as WestSide made off with a 43-19 victory. Does WestSide have another victory up their sleeve, or will Independence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
