Basketball Recap: Xayden Watson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fayetteville Christian

Trinity Christian won the last time they faced Fayetteville Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trinity Christian Crusaders walked away with a 58-48 win over the Fayetteville Christian Warriors. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Warriors are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xayden Watson, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. Watson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Baganley Donzo, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Ethan Durgadin and Avery Perusek certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Durgadin went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points and six boards, while Perusek put up ten points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Trinity Christian and bumps their season record up to 13-8. As for Fayetteville Christian, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Trinity Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-29 win against The O'Neal School on the 24th. Fayetteville Christian has also already played their next contest, a 95-54 defeat against Northwood Temple Academy on the 24th.
