Baseball Game Preview: Schoharie Storm vs. Duanesburg Eagles

The Schoharie Storm will challenge the Duanesburg Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Schoharie came up short against Galway on Wednesday, falling 10-3. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Skylar Corrodore was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Schoharie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Vangasbeck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those runs marked the first that Vangasbeck scored this season. Another was Devon Schrader, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Duanesburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Fort Plain on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jacob Reese was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Schoharie's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Duanesburg, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Schoharie couldn't quite finish off Duanesburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
