The Mifflinburg Wildcats will square off against the Southern Columbia Area Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mifflinburg is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Williamsport just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 7-2 to the Millionaires.
Mifflinburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Boyer, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area entered their tilt with Bloomsburg on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-2 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.
Caden Hopper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kole Myers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Andrew Novak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Southern Columbia Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomsburg only posted an OBP of .308.
Southern Columbia Area pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Mifflinburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
