Baseball Recap: Wayne's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wayne had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Green River Pirates on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Badgers: when they faced off against the Pirates back in August, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Hunter Robins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wayne is 2-1 when Robins allows one or fewer hits, but 2-11 otherwise. Robins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Peterson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in August. EJ Pauu was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wayne's record is now 4-12. As for Green River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will challenge Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buffalos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Badgers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green River, they will host Piute at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
