Basketball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Stoughton Vikings 63-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Vikings are ranked 103rd).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elias Vera, who posted eight points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Wesley Krueger, who put up six points and six rebounds.

Portage's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Stoughton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Portage will challenge Mauston at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Portage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Stoughton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-51 win against Waupun on the 8th.
