Basketball Game Preview: Martin Luther Cougars vs. Renaissance Knights

Having just played yesterday, the Martin Luther Cougars will jump right back in to play the Renaissance Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Martin Luther's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Martin Luther's tournament run continued when they took on Maspeth on Friday. Martin Luther fell to Maspeth 78-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (64), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Renaissance unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Wednesday. They fell just short of Queens School Of Inquiry by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Queens School Of Inquiry are ranked 105th).

Renaissance's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Martin Luther, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Martin Luther against Renaissance in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured an 85-34 victory. Will Martin Luther repeat their success, or does Renaissance have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
